When it comes to skincare, men have traditionally kept it simple. However, more men are looking to keep their skin healthier, younger-looking, and protected from the damages of the environment, and it’s not hard to do! Men, these tips will help you make the tweaks to your skincare routine that will help you get the healthy skin you’re looking for – without any unnecessary fuss.

Do: Lather up. Using a mild, non-irritating cleanser in the morning and before bed will help slough away dead skin cells that are making your skin look dull and remove any oil or dirt from the day. Finish up with a splash of cold water to refresh both your skin and your mind.

Don’t: Forget moisturizer. When your skin is dehydrated, it’s more prone to irritation, redness, and breakouts. Fragrance-free moisturizers are often a good option to restore balance to your skin, combat dryness and flakiness, and provide a barrier between you and pollutants in the air.

Do: Rinse off after your workout. Sweat is composed of the toxins your body is trying to get rid of, so leaving them to dry on your face leaves it prone to breakouts and infections. Skip the harsh bar soap, and simply splash your face off with cool water after exercising.

Don’t: Forget to switch up your routine as the seasons change! Summer skincare just doesn’t work the same magic as fall comes around (take a look at our fall skincare tips here: https://www.cielospasb.com/prepping-your-skin-for-fall/).

Do: Consider a monthly facial treatment. Handing your skincare over to a professional from time-to-time allows you to receive personalized advice for addressing your skincare needs, as well as providing your skin with a necessary reset. Take a look at our unique treatments!

Don’t: Exfoliate more than twice a week. Exfoliation is a great way to make sure your skin is smooth but doing so too frequently actually does more harm than good by irritating your skin and causing dryness. Limit your exfoliating routine to about twice a week for the best results.

Do: Invest in a razor that gets the job done well. Most men shave about five times a week. That’s a lot of shaving, and a cheap razer will cause ingrown hairs and irritated skin. Instead, choose a razor that matches your beard coarseness and length.

Don’t: Leave the house without sunscreen! Sun damage is the leading cause for aging and dry skin, and a good SPF can take care of that for you. We love Image Skincare’s Prevention+ Sport Sunscreen Spray. In fact, Roxanne’s son swears by it for long days working outdoors! It makes the application process quick and easy.
